All A Flutter

26 Tammuz
July 16th

Dearest Diary;
I woke up at daybreak to the full-throat-ed song of a nightingale. My spirit fluttered with joy as it sang so exultantly.
The warm golden rays of sunlight were streaming through the window beckoning me to go out into the misty freshness.
Soon the torrid heat that hangs over this part of the country in summertime may be upon us, but this early morning it is sweet and refreshing out. I knelt beside one of Aunt Elisheva’s sheltered rosebushes, and plucked off faded blossoms and yellowed leaves. Just as I leaned forward to draw in the heady fragrance of a vermilion flower, and marvel at the glistening dew drop on its petals, I felt movement. It was just a small twinge but I’m sure my face lit up with joy. My hand pressed lovingly against the spot, and soon I felt another faint flutter.
The Baby lives! He moves! I felt so in tune with nature. All around me was the beauty of creation, and within me, oh, within me was the most marvelous Creation of all. Without pausing to think who might hear me I lifted my hands heavenward, and an unwritten psalm of adoration, and praise spilled from my lips. Holy, Holy, Holy! How magnificent art thou oh, Lord!
These weeks of being in kindly, old Zachariah’s home are gliding by in such a swift, happy manner. I’m becoming fortified to face the anxieties, and concerns that I must endure once I return to the village.
